Manning Clark House (MCHI) warmly welcomes everyone to be part of a vibrant community dedicated to culture, creativity, and connection. As a not-for-profit organisation registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), we’ve been bringing people together since 1997, thanks to the vision of Dymphna Clark, the wife of renowned historian Manning Clark. She dreamed of keeping their beautiful heritage-listed home in Forrest, Canberra, alive as a hub of cultural, intellectual, and social activity.
Over the years, Manning Clark House has become a special place for exploring ideas, sparking meaningful conversations, and discussing the big issues of today. It’s also a space where the legacy of the Clarks lives on, promoting creativity and innovation.
Manning and Dymphna Clark believed deeply in finding unique Australian solutions to the challenges we face—both locally and globally. We continue to carry that belief forward by hosting engaging events like the annual Manning and Dymphna Clark Lectures, inspiring talks, book launches, live music, poetry readings, and art exhibitions. These gatherings are open to everyone and create a welcoming space for sharing ideas, expressing creativity, and building connections.
We couldn’t do this without the incredible support of our members and the broader community. Whether through donations, volunteering, or simply showing up to participate, your contributions help us keep this inspiring space thriving. Join us and be part of the journey!
