Sue is President of the Medical Association for Prevention of War, and Secretary of Australians for War Power Reforms. She has spoken and written widely on peace and disarmament issues and is one of the founders of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2017. Sue will include in her talk issues around Australia’s ramping up of war rhetoric and taxpayer investment in the weapons industry.
Clinton Fernandes is Professor of International and Political Studies at the UNSW Canberra (ADFA). He is well known for his work on Australia’s national security, and in particular intelligence matters in relation to our South-East Asian neighbours. He is widely published on international law and intelligence operations and has spoken and written on East Timor’s independence struggle. He has also spoken out against the prosecutions of Witness K and Bernard Collaery. In addition, Clinton has co-authored a submission to the Independent National Security Legislation Monitor regarding the suppression of investigative journalism under legislative changes to the ASIO Act.
