“The Inertia Trap” by local filmmaker Kathryn Kelly
The new documentary film “The Inertia Trap” by local filmmaker Kathryn Kelly, provides information about the effects of climate change on the ocean change in easy to understand language. The film covers issues such as increasing ocean heat, changes in ocean currents, and sea level rise and attempts to predict the effects these conditions will have on marine ecosystems, human lives and the global climate. The film is produced and directed by Kathryn Kelly, and narrated by Assoc Professor Janette Lindesay Deputy Director, ANU Climate Change Institute. Scientists interviewed in the film include James Hansen (NASA), Will Steffen (ANU), David Karoly (Melbourne University), John Church, Steve Rintoul, Susan Wijffels, Alistair Hobday, Bronte Tilbrook (all CSIRO) and Tessa Vance (UTas and Antarctic Ecosystem CRC). The film will be followed by a question and answer session with Professor Will Steffen, Assoc Professor Janette Lindesay and director, Kathryn Kelly.
